General Meeting Minutes

Present: Elizabeth Howe, Tyler Newell, Jenny Steffie, Katie Scott, Christina Crawford, Barb Newell, Julie Sawyer, John Niehls, John McLoughlin, Cheryl Laffey, Chris Blasko, Tana Connolly, Laurie Reinschmidt, Mark Niehls



Introduction: Elizabeth & Tyler

  • Looking for new members

  • Tyler - updating website

  • PTO has 2 sub-groups: Sports boosters, Performing Arts

Introduce current members:

  • Chair & Co-chair: Elizabeth Howe and Tyler Newell

  • Auction Committee: Katie Scott & Christina Crawford

  • Communications/Media: Kim Jenkins

  • Secretary: Jenny Steffie

  • Co-Treasurers - Julie Sawyer, Chris Blasko

  • Small events/fundraisers coordinator: Tana Connolly

Auction Information

  • Raises $15-40,000 per year

  • $ used for gym floor, technology, arts (pottery), teacher allowances, learning support, etc.

Communications/Media Information

  • Email communications

  • Holiday shop

  • Facebook/social media

Secretary Responsibilities

  • Take minutes

  • Organize Google drive

  • Fall Festival

Treasurer Responsibilities

  • Write checks

  • Manage budgets

  • Shows minutes

  • Email link to communicate with PTO

  • Summaries of recent activities

  • By-laws

Sports boosters:

  • Try to provide events for all age levels

  • Run concessions

Performing Arts Boosters: Barb Newell

  • Money raised benefits plays, choirs, upkeep of auditorium and technology

Suggestions for Using PTO funds ($19,000 to use for items/projects for school):

  • Audio system in events center needs improvement

  • Wireless microphones (2)

  • Awning between building and event center

  • Science lab equipment

  • Money for Tinkerspace

  • Money for Robotics (Lego mindstorms, Ozobots)

Questions:

  • Have we gone to large companies to solicit donations of materials and technology?


Executive Meeting Minutes

No new self nominations

All current members will continue next year

Website:

  • New Google form goes to Google spreadsheet to keep track of spending requests

  • Preview spending requests on Google sheets

Go over operations budgets

Adjust budgeted items

Sports boosters - adjust down to $3,700 for immediate fall needs

  • Vote: All in favor, none opposed

Performing arts -$2,000 for the fall play, $3,400 total

  • Vote: All in favor, none opposed

  • Add $1,000 for Meetings/advertising/PTO other
